Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention and Services


The Council of Community Services of New York State, Inc. (CCSNYS) serves as lead agency for the Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention and Services (APPS) Community Service Project (CSP) which is funded by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services.  APPS provides services to at-risk, pregnant, and parenting teens under age 21 in the the following zip codes 12202, 12206, 12207, and 12210.  APPS is a consortium style prevention program with five subcontracting agencies as follows:

- Youth Empowerment Services (YES), a collaborative program of Family and Children Services of Albany, Upper Hudson Planned Parenthood, and Whitney M. Young Jr. Health Center, provides youth with comprehensive case management services.  Case managers are available to assist with an array of issues including pregnancy, birth control, reproductive health, parenting, day care, housing, advocacy, employment, education, and counseling.  YES provides FREE pregnancy and HIV testing and counseling.  YES also provides on going, multiple contact outreach and prevention education programming for in-school and community youth.  Services are free and confidential.  518-455-8911

- Capital Region Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) provides after school pregnancy and STD/HIV prevention education programming called Reducing the Risk for females and Wise Guys for males at Hackett Middle School and Phillip Livingston Magnet Academy.  These evidenced based programs are delivered by school social workers who provide a linkage to the students´ school and home environment. 

- Equinox, Inc. provides at-risk, pregnant or parenting teens and their children with supervised housing and case management services through their Transitional Living Program.
